Club Tournament Interviews


There were 20 club members and one guest that fished the 6th club tournament of the year.  Water temperatures ranged from the high sixties to the low seventies.  The blast off both days was at 6:20 am from the Lind Coulee launch area with a 3:00 pm weigh in and 1:00 pm weigh in on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  Winds were mild on Saturday and blew at 10 - 15 MPH on Sunday.  There was a Walleye Tournament that blasted off  Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 pm that made Lind Coulee a bit crowded.  There were at least a dozen Walleye boats concentrating on mainly 2 areas both days that pretty much eliminated this water for club members.  There were 105 smallies and 22 largemouths brought to the scales.  With 9 limits consisting of 76 fish weighing 141 pounds, Saturday was much better fishing than Sunday.  Sunday saw only 5 limits with 51 fish weighing 84 pounds brought to the scales.  With Kenny G's victory the Angler of the Year Award is now between him and Chris Ferry and will be decided at the last tournament of the year on Lake Washington. 

Finishing first with 22..40 pounds was Ken Ganancial.  Keny brought limits to the scales both days and had the big bag for day 2 of 12.01 pounds.  Kenny was the Medicare beach area.  He aid he caught his fish in 15 - 20 feet using hula grubs on football head jigs, drop shotting with CF Custom Baits and on a Carolina Rig. 

In Second place was Mike Hostetter.  Mike  weighed 19.40 pounds for the  two days.   He had the big bag for day 1 and for the tournament with 14.32 pounds.  He said he caught his fish in Lind Coulee using Zara Spooks and drop shotting Robo Worms in 20 feet of water.


In third place with 16.28 pounds was Joe Scheperle.  Joe was fishing the Medicare Beach area.  Joe said, " Most of my fish on Saturday where caught on a zoom fluke watermelon with brass and glass.  I also caught some on a mojo with a sweet beaver green pumpkin and few on a drop shot with a zoom baby creature bait in green pumpkin.  Sunday they didn't seem to want the fluke but I did catch a few on a 3/8 oz. football head and a sweet beaver . I think all my fish came from 10-20 ft."

Finishing fourth with 15.55.pounds was Jaymee Strasbaugh.  Jaymee's 4th place finish included a 4.7 pound smallie on Sunday.  Jaymee was .............






 Rounding out the top 5 was Mike peters with
15.54 pounds was Mike Peters.  Mike was fishing out of the back of Kenny G's boat.  He said he couldn't  add anything more than what keen G provided in his interview since he was fishing the same way as Kenny.



The big fish of the tournament was caught on Saturday by Shawn McDaniel.  Shawn threw a tube in 1 foot of water in Lind Coulee that netted him a  5.21 pound largemouth.
