Puyallup Hawg Hunters Meeting Minutes 11-13-2013

Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM.

Secretary and Treasurer were not in attendance.

No meeting minutes are available for review.

Doug Jorgensen was on for Tips, Tactics and Techniques. Doug spoke about proper rod, reel and line selection for throwing football head jigs.  Travis Archer is on for next month.

No conservation report, but Aaron Christelís friend is now a fisheries biologist for WDFW.

Aaron Christel gave the report on the Mickelson. 16 boats fished it, 13 had limits. Tony Lafranco and Keith Brooks won with 16.42. Great tournament and a truckload of toys were collected for Mary Bridge.

Club tournament was won by Shawn McDaniel. Shawn was not attendance to give a report. We will put him on the hot seat next month about his win. 16 club members fished it. Fishing was tough for everyone except for Shawn.

Kenny G. won Angler of the Year again in what turned out to be a very tight race that came down to the last tournament.

The club participated in the Club Fish Off on Lake Sammamish. The club took second place overall on the strength of Shawn McDaniel and Kevin Higgins.

Ryan Gates attended the Federation Banquet and the club finished in 1st place for the year and was awarded a $500 prize.

The Federation also wants to grow the membership because the TBF wants to merge all the West Coast together unless we get more members.

Doug gave the safety report and inflatable PFDís were the topic again. The Mustang survival HIT vest is a type III pfd and counts as one whether worn at all times or not. The recommendation is to wear your pfd at all times when on the water.

The location for the banquet is still undecided. Mark is going to check with The Ram on South Hill about their banquet room. Ryan Gates is going to check with Aversanoís about theirs.

Angling Technologies and their mapping products were discussed. Doug stated that he would investigate further.

Award  Plaques were discussed.  The common theme is to return to our plaques from last year for this year's award ceremony and get the ones with the fish on them for the money tournaments.

Doug brought up the topic of getting better organized and not having a meeting December of 2014, due to it being a busy month for family stuff. All in attendance were in agreement.

Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
